RELAXATION OF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS - RETURN OF FACE-TO-FACE TUITION

We hope you have all been keeping well throughout the last three months during which time Target Dyslexia has been successfully teaching many students online (after some teething problems).

We intend to offer face-to-face lessons again from 1 July 2020. We have taken the opportunity of the lockdown to re-locate to a better office in Dorridge in the Cross & Craig Architects offices. It is a far larger room than Knowle and there is street parking and a supermarket car park close by (the office car park is reserved for office users). For parents who like to stay locally during lessons, there is a Costa Coffee and Sainsbury’s opposite. We know that many parents favour face-to-face tuition but we will continue online lessons for those who prefer it.

We have undertaken a risk assessment to ensure that face-to-face lessons can be delivered safely in line with current restrictions. We will therefore take the following precautions when teaching:

  • The tutor will wear a face covering;
  • The tutor will ensure social distancing (the larger office will make this easier);
  • The window will be kept open to allow fresh air to circulate;
  • Door handles and hard surfaces will be disinfected between lessons;
  • Lessons will only be one-to-one until conditions allow 2-1 teaching;
  • The tutor will meet parents in reception and escort the children to and from the teaching room.

In turn we would like students to:

  • Wash hands before entering the office;
  • Wear a face mask/covering;
  • Stay at home if they show any symptoms of ill health particularly coughing or sneezing.

We hope for a return to full normality before too long. Personal contact between tutor and students is important for lessons to work most effectively and we believe that children benefit from structure to their daily lives.
